Walk Faithfully
Serve Practically
Build Sustainably
We exist to strengthen families, empower youth, and help communities build safe, sustainable environments to thrive.
The Akoo Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to fostering generational change through practical, community-driven solutions. We serve vulnerable children, families, and communities in Western Kenya addressing critical gaps in clean water access, sanitary facilities, youth development, and family stability.
Our mission is to strengthen families, empower youth, and help communities build safe, sustainable environments to thrive.
We focus on 3 main areas:
Clean Water + Sanitary Infrastructure
We partner with local leaders to install sustainable water systems, improve sanitation facilities, and upgrade essential infrastructure in schools, churches, and community spaces, thus improving health, dignity, and daily stability.
Youth Education & Leadership Pathways
We invest in children and young adults through sponsorship, educational resources, leadership training, and positive community engagement, naturally helping young people grow with confidence, purpose, and equal opportunity.
Family Support & Community Care
We provide practical assistance, emotional support, and community-led care initiatives to strengthen families facing hardship—meeting urgent needs while building long-term resilience.
Our current work is in Western Kenya, partnering with a few small but faithful churches and schools, serving families in rural villages within Siaya County, Kisumu County, and Homa Bay County.
What do all these locations have in common?
In the rural communities of these counties, all of them are facing water insecurity, inadequate sanitation facilities, limited educational resources, and economic hardship.
Together, we’re building small projects that make a big difference.
Millions of children and families experience preventable hardship, and not because of a lack of potential, but because of a lack of access and support.
Clean water, proper sanitation, education, and community care are proven pathways to breaking cycles of poverty and creating lasting change.
At The Akoo Foundation, we are committed to building capacity, not dependency.
Our programs prioritize local leadership, ensuring solutions are sustainable, culturally appropriate, and community-owned.
